Individual Paper – Macro

As of right now 8 of you have signed up for a country for your paper due oct 10.  That is out of 56.  So we are scoring 14%.

Let’s get your choices in now!!

We can discuss the due date next week, but we can’t be too much later, since you need time for the second project.

Macro Links – Macro

I put some valuable links on the blogroll (left sidebar) under the ECO100 category. These are important for getting current and historical macroeconomic numbers, and also as a resource for discovering some of the methods used to acquire the data, which as we learned today is all important. I will add to these links as the course goes on.

  • 19?? Flashback gives some historical data for a particular decade.
  • BLS is the government’s bureau of labor statistics. Lots of info on employment.
  • CIA Factbooks carry lots of information about almost any country in the world, and are a primary source of up-to-date information.
  • OECD is the main source for economic data from its members.
  • Minneapolis Fed has a lot of information about inflation and its measurement.

Simulation Output – Logistics

The simulation output files are not readable just as you see them. But I read them sucessfully with Notepad, perhaps the easiest and cheapest way to read them. You can read them with Word by making sure you are set to landscape and making the margins as large as possible. When you print them from notepad you may not get the page to break where you want it to, between the operations report and the financial report.  I think you can add a page break with the editor (Notepad) and get it to print OK.

Please give me feedback on the reports as the game goes on.  they are hard to change, but if all is going well I can have a stab at it later in the semester.
