Ikea: Why is it so bad at delivery?

Another great example of segmentation by logistics need.   Firms who want to do home delivery well employ last-mile 3PLs and schedule the delivery when you pay for the goods at the store. Sears is an example.  Those 3PLs are getting very good at next-day delivery, and in some cases, at setup and installation. It’s a supply chain liaison that pays dividends for both.
