Nationwide Truck Parking Needs

US Department of Transportation has completed a study on availability of truck parking.  It’s not promising.  With the required more frequent rest periods, truckers have to be able to park.  They could actually be in violation if they pass by a place thinking it is too early.  Quite a mess.  Whose problem is it to fix?

What Price Truck Driver Shortages?

A nice post from Yossi Sheffi of MIT.  He’s right about automated trucks– too far in the future to have much effect on the driver shortage, and won’t do anything to improve the image of trucking or to improve operational conditions.  That’s up to real people committing to change, which is slow in coming in supply chains!

Be sure to read to the end for Yossi’s joke about automation!
