These systems actually work well. I had one in my Lexus IS 250 and it was wonderful. Useful also were the Lane Keeper and the cameras.  Trucks and other vehicles should all have them.

Here is evidence of a truck driver shortage.  There are some interesting numbers on the site. Truckers average only $41,930 a year in salary.  and the turnover rate is 96%.  so folks don’t stay long in one job, and possibly leave trucking altogether.

Battle Over Independent Truckers Rages

Are truckers independent owner operators, or are they just masquerading employees?  Teamsters Union say they are employees, and should receive their benefits.  But do most IOOs want to be employees? Or do they value their mobility to other jobs? And what are the implications for productivity gains at the SoCal Ports, which are suffering from a need to improve throughput?
