Here’s an analysis from McKinsey which gives great pause for thought.  Their discussion of Economic Profit as a measure of performance has some good analysis and indicates some important cautions for us all in business– financial, operations, marketing, and entrepreneurs.

Setting value, not price

This article from McKinsey shows us that we have to position products while anticipating what other firms will do.  Marketing is a strategic game, and if we offer a product without considering what others will do, we could hurt ourselves.  It’s an interesting analysis, and makes a lot of sense.  How can we apply it in logistics?

California’s Reliance on Pacific Rim Trade Partners Falters

It’s an odd way to put it, but it seems that there is a trend developing in which California does not export as much to China.  What’s going on? Thornburg thinks it means less computer parts are going to China.  Will it persist?

The article is also interesting because it indicates that China is not the major trading partner with California.  Mexico is first, and Canada second!  Perspective is always helpful!
