Who is going to supply chassis for containers in the US? It’s an ongoing question I’ve been interested in for a while. Ocean carriers used to do it; they owned about 30% of all chassis used to move shipping containers around. Now they have opted out. Well, not exactly; they formed a separate company called CCM to pool chassis and rent them to carriers. but some companies are concerned about availability and road-ability, and could move to private fleets.
