Exporters to bear brunt as shipping lines raise rates

A substantial rise in ocean shipping rates is affecting exporters!  Should we hang our hat on increasing exports here in the US?  There are lots of variables, some very volatile. These include freight rates and currency fluctuations as well as labor costs.  The full landed cost will go up on account of this change.

Laser Embeds RFID Tag Antennas

One of the problems with RFID technology is expense and the difficulty in doing it. but here is a new method that shows promise, and is actually being used for circuit boards and phones. I can see how you could embed the plastic in a product made with other materials, just to have the RFID info present.  We will reach our goal of tracking everything.

Some stats from major truckload carriers. Operating ratios continue tight. Two truckers had decreases in net income. Others were stagnant. It’s not an industry making a lot of money– the symptoms of a perfectly competitive business, with not much differentiation of products.  What are Swift and Celadon doing right?
